<link>http://repository.rjt.ac.lk/handle/123456789/3225</link>
<description>The Impact of Quality Attributes of Wedding Banquets on CustomerSatisfaction and Behavioural Intention in Star Grade
Thalpawila, T.K.T.R.; Abeywickrama, K.T.N.P.
A wedding functions is paramount for both customers and hoteliers as it is an&#13;
event of life which is mostly celebrated once in a lifetime. Therefore, it is &#13;
crucial to management of ahotel to have a proper knowledge regarding quality &#13;
attributes to satisfy the customers. Previous researches have indicated that&#13;
quality attributes impact on customer satisfaction to a large extent. This study&#13;
investigated the nature of the impact of three quality attributes of wedding&#13;
banquets on customer satisfaction and behavioural intention in 3–5-star hotelsin&#13;
Kandy district (predictors: food, service, and physical environment). It further&#13;
analyzed the mediating role of customer satisfaction between the quality&#13;
attributes and behaviouralintention. An online survey was conducted to collect &#13;
data from 141 brides or grooms of married couples, celebrated their wedding &#13;
ceremony at a wedding banquet in a 3-5 -star hotel in Kandy district in 2019 &#13;
who were selected using convenient sampling method. The collected data was&#13;
analyzed through the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS)version 26.0. &#13;
Based on the results of Pearson Correlation and Regression analysis, all the&#13;
hypotheses to the study were accepted revealing that quality attributes positively&#13;
impactedboth customer satisfaction and behavioural intention. Also, it could be &#13;
found that the quality of food is the most influential quality attribute to &#13;
customer satisfaction and behavioural intention. The results of the Sobel test&#13;
revealed that the customer satisfactionhas a mediating effect on the impact that&#13;
quality attributes have on behavioural intention.There are research implications &#13;
of the findings which would guide hotel managers as to where to focus their &#13;
work energy in terms of generating customer satisfaction and behavioural &#13;
intention. The study recommends taking every action to improve the quality&#13;
attributes of wedding banquets giving priority to the quality of food, to gain &#13;
customer satisfaction and to boost positive behavioural intention.

<title>The Attractiveness of Tourist Destinations: A Comparative Study ofAnuradhapura and Polonnaruwa</title>
<link>http://repository.rjt.ac.lk/handle/123456789/3224</link>
<description>The Attractiveness of Tourist Destinations: A Comparative Study ofAnuradhapura and Polonnaruwa
Jayaweera, S.N.C.; Randeni, R.K.D.
Considering the benefits of tourism, increasing destination attractiveness is one&#13;
of the key strategies employed by tourist destinations around the globe. Since &#13;
tourism is a vital foreign currency generator most developing economies are &#13;
concerned about increasing the destination attractiveness including Sri Lanka. &#13;
Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa are two UNESCO World Heritage sites with a &#13;
plethora of tourism potentials which are located in the North Central Province &#13;
of Sri Lanka. However, as per the SLTDA annual reports in the last five years, &#13;
there is a significant difference between the tourist arrivals between these two &#13;
destinations. The purpose of this study is to assess the destination attractiveness&#13;
in comparative terms through the lenses of accessibility, attractions,&#13;
accommodations, and activities between Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa.&#13;
Variables were identified 5A’s in tourism which were used to measure &#13;
destination attractiveness and selected exact variable through a pilot study, and &#13;
were employed in the main study. The sample consisted of 58 respondents who &#13;
were selected using a convenient sampling technique. The study employed&#13;
Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS-21) for the data analysis. &#13;
Descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation), independent sample T-test, &#13;
regression, and correlation analysis were the main analytical tools. The results&#13;
indicate that there is a significant difference in destination attractiveness between&#13;
the two destinations. Differences in the variables are explained by descriptive&#13;
statistics as well asindependent sample T-test. Correlation results show that all&#13;
variables have a positive and significant relationship with destination &#13;
attractiveness. Further, the regression analysis revealed that accessibility, &#13;
attractions, accommodations, and activities positively and significantly impact&#13;
destination attractiveness.

<title>Repercussions of Tourism on the Tangible Cultural Heritage in Mihintale</title>
<link>http://repository.rjt.ac.lk/handle/123456789/3223</link>
<description>Repercussions of Tourism on the Tangible Cultural Heritage in Mihintale
Perera, P.K.U.; Dassanayake, D.M.C.
In the present day, many travellers are traveling across the world beyond their&#13;
geographical boundaries to experience and visit many places with cultural heritage&#13;
values and identities. Sri Lanka is also a country where there are thousands of &#13;
attractions with tangible and intangible cultural heritage values. However, the&#13;
negative impacts of tourism on cultural heritage attractions also are reported&#13;
frequently. Therefore, a systematic investigation is much needed to identify how &#13;
the tourism negatively effects on cultural heritage sites in Sri Lanka. The main &#13;
objective of this study was to identify the impacts of tourism and related activities &#13;
on the heritage sites. By adopting a qualitative research approach, this study &#13;
focuses on the effects of tourism on the tangible cultural heritage values in &#13;
Mihintale, which is one of the main heritage sites in Sri Lanka. Data were gathered &#13;
from multiple sources like face-to-face interviews with government officers at the &#13;
Mihintale archaeological site and the police station, participant observations, and&#13;
photographs taken by the researcher using convenient and purposive sampling&#13;
techniques. Data were analysed manually by using thematic, content, image, and&#13;
descriptive analyses techniques where applicable. Results indicate that tourism&#13;
causes physical damages to the properties, deteriorates the heritage, distorts the &#13;
cultural heritage, misplaces the heritage properties, and encourages unfavourable &#13;
tourist behaviours at sacred sites. The results give a proper understanding of the&#13;
context of repercussions of tourism at cultural heritage sites. It should also be &#13;
stressed that recognizing the requirement for the conservation andpreservation of &#13;
significant cultural heritage resources is of vital importance in the effort of the&#13;
development of sustainable heritage tourism.

<title>Rail Transportation Attributes: Domestic Rail Tourists’ Satisfaction andReuse Intention</title>
<link>http://repository.rjt.ac.lk/handle/123456789/3222</link>
<description>Rail Transportation Attributes: Domestic Rail Tourists’ Satisfaction andReuse Intention
Madhuwanthi, M.G.I.S.; Dassanayake, D.M.C.
Domestic rail tourists play a prominent role in Sri Lankan tourism industry by&#13;
contributing to the growth of the industry considerably. As a niche tourism &#13;
segment, the rail tourism can be effectively utilized for the development of the&#13;
tourism industry. Sincethe concepts of satisfaction and reuse intention is closely &#13;
combined with the assessment of various services in the tourism industry, the&#13;
main purpose of this research is to identify the impact of rail transportation&#13;
attributes on domestic rail tourists’ reuse intention via the mediation effect of &#13;
domestic rail tourists’ satisfaction. Four rail transportation attributes were &#13;
identified as independent variables namely scenery, comfort, customer service, &#13;
andsafety. Data was collected by an online questionnaire from 149 of domestic &#13;
rail tourists who have visited to Badulla by train during the past year by adopting&#13;
convenient samplingtechnique which is laid under the non-probability sampling &#13;
method. Pearson Correlation statistics were calculated in order to identify the &#13;
relationship between independent, mediating, and dependent variables and the &#13;
results have proved that there are positive significant relationships between all &#13;
the variables in the study. The results of multiple regression analysis have &#13;
proved that the rail transportation attributes do have a positive impact on&#13;
domestic rail tourists’ reuse intention. The Sobel test showed that the&#13;
satisfaction mediates the impact of rail transportation attributes on reuse &#13;
intention. In general, the findings make a significant contribution to the&#13;
knowledge of tourist behaviour in rail tourism, and in particular the results&#13;
illustrate how the attributes of rail transportation can increase the re-use &#13;
intention through satisfaction as the mediator proving the mediating effect of &#13;
satisfaction in between service attributes and loyalty. In considering the&#13;
managerial implications, the findings of the research direct the Sri Lanka&#13;
Railway, Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, and Sri Lanka Tourism&#13;
PromotionalBureau as to how the rail tourism should be promoted through the &#13;
improvements of the rail transportation attributes which can eventually lead to a&#13;
satisfied domestic rail tourist.
