Abstract:
The tourism and hospitality industry, a major contributor to global economic development, faces unprecedented challenges ranging from climate change and resource depletion to socio-economic disparities and cultural preservation. Addressing these complex and interconnected issues requires an interdisciplinary approach that leverages insights from environmental science, economics, social sciences, and technology. This research explores the integration of diverse disciplines to develop comprehensive strategies for
sustainable tourism and hospitality management. By examining case studies from various global regions, the study highlights successful interdisciplinary collaborations that have led to innovative solutions. Key areas of focus include the implementation of green technologies to reduce environmental impact, the promotion of cultural heritage and community-based tourism to enhance socio-economic benefits, and the application of data analytics to optimize resource management and customer experience. The findings underscore the importance of cross-disciplinary cooperation in tackling global challenges.
Environmental scientists, economists, sociologists, and technologists must work together to create resilient and adaptive management practices. This holistic approach not only enhances the sustainability of the tourism and hospitality sectors but also contributes to broader goals of economic equity, cultural preservation, and environmental stewardship. This research provides actionable insights for industry practitioners, policymakers, and academic researchers. It advocates for the establishment of interdisciplinary frameworks
and educational programs to foster a new generation of tourism and hospitality leaders equipped to navigate and mitigate global challenges. By embracing interdisciplinary collaboration, the tourism and hospitality industry can play a pivotal role in promoting sustainable development and achieving the United Nations SDGs.
